*** I say this with honesty as a fan, that unless you're insistent on being a completionist or whatever, don't bother with this album. It was recorded at a time when there was severe friction in the group and they all knew this would be the last album, and it really shows. I guess one thing it does do is exemplify just how strong Tip & Phife's chemistry was on the earlier albums, because it's definitely not here. The 'love' theme present on the album also just feels too forced, especially when it really doesn't come across with the same positive vibes as expected. Really it's just a rather disappointing end (at the time of writing) to an otherwise really solid discography. 2.7 |
